Tim McKimmy, CKD President/Owner Tim blames his father, Richard McKimmy, for dragging him into the family Kitchen and Bath business in 1987. Having graduated with a Bachelors’ degree in Finance from the University of Toledo in 1985, Tim began work in the accounting department of Owens Corning in the contracting division. The accounting skills and attention to detail learned from that position were to prove invaluable when he entered the kitchen business in 1987. The family dealership was in need of sales people and Tim was looking for a career that was more fitting his personality/interests. From 1987 to 1990 he worked in retail and builder sales with 75% of sales being builder oriented. In 1990 a position for territory sales manager for western MI opened up and Tim was successful in securing the job with Ram Marketing, the Wood-Mode representative for MI and northwestern OH at the time. Job responsibilities included:- Servicing current accounts - Canvassing and adding new accounts where needed - Rep designed and implemented advertising programs - Territory co-op management - Problem documentation and resolution - Product training and teaching of design/ordering techniques In 1992 Tim then joined his brother Mike in Atlanta, GA to help with his Wood-Mode rep agency, McKimmy & Associates, performing the same duties listed previously while servicing builder house accounts. Tim achieved his CKD (Certified Kitchen Designer) accreditation in 1996. In 2007 Tim formed his own representative agency, The McKimmy Group. The company is responsible for Wood-Mode sales in GA, SC, Asheville west in NC, Birmingham north in AL and Nashville east in TN. Tim believes that mutually beneficial/respectful relationships form the core of a successful sales team. Dahlia McKimmy Administrative Assistant/Majority OwnerBorn in Jamaica, then raised in England until the age of 10, and then back to Jamaica to finish her schooling comprised Dahlia’s first 17 years. At age 17 she then arrived to the United States and achieved her nursing degree. In 2002 Dahlia became a “Proud American” citizen. Dahlia’s decade long nursing career has consisted of: - Pediatric and adult nursing - Contributing nurse in a TB/HIV research study by the Atlanta CDC - Public Health Administrator - Private Duty Nursing (Home health care) Of all the accomplishments she is most proud of her family which consists of daughter Grace, son John and husband Tim. Being a stay at home Mom the last 7 years has been her most gratifying work. Dahlia met Tim while working with Tim’s brother Mike. Mike had ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and put up a heroic 16 year battle with the disease. The two married in 1998. In 2008 Tim asked Dahlia to join The McKimmy Group as Administrative assistant/Majority owner. To his great pleasure she accepted the challenge of learning a new skill set. Her infectious personality and “can do” attitude have enabled her to quickly learn her new duties: - Quick Books and accounting - Bill paying - Filing - Customer support - Office back-up for order editing - Day to day operations of the office Dahlia is a most welcome addition to team McKimmy, not only administratively, but most importantly, her devotion to servicing our customers.
